TRADITIONAL JEWELLERY MAKING
Sugar beads (called Halwa) are made during Sankranti Festival. They are tiny white colored sugar balls with spikes on them. They are usually served as sweet/prasadam along with til-gul (jaggery).
These sugar beads are also used to make jewellery. They threaded together along with some metal beads. Since here is no hole in the beads, the beads need to have enough spikes so that when they are threaded in between two strands of thread, they can be held in place and don’t fall out.
